I’ve had a lifetime love affair with reflexology. It was only after I was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago though, that I saw first hand the benefits of this powerful holistic treatment. After a mastectomy operation and a large amount of chemotherapy, I was lucky enough to receive many reflexology treatments at Suir Haven Cancer Support Centre in Thurles, Co. Tipperary. Although each oncology patient responds individually, I found that reflexology helped me enormously. This positive experience inspired me to train professionally as a reflexologist practitioner so that I can help others in a very practical, holistic and organic way. I trained under the amazing teachers, Catriona Plunkett and Eileen Washington at Golden Egg Holistic in Portlaoise, which is a Centre of Excellence for Diploma and Postgraduate Holistic Therapy Training. Each day spent there was an absolute joy. As well as learning loads, we had many laughs and fun. I am now registered with the the National Register of Reflexologists Ireland, who are the body representing professional reflexologists in Ireland.
I also did a postgrad course in Cancer Care with Claire O’Grady MNRRI which was insightful and visionary. During treatment, I use organic beeswax balms (or a vegan alternative) which are handmade by Arno Schouwenburg of Flying Wild. Arno is based in Terryglass in North Tipperary and it’s wonderful to be able to purchase such quality products locally. To find out how reflexology can help you, please read all about it below. I’ve also included the history of reflexology and it’s many benefits.
